British Youth Council – It is an organisation that encourages young people in the UK to vote in general elections and activism. It fits to my choice for campaign because it fits with the age range that I am looking for and encourage more young people to do politics and participate in conversations. It actively encourages young people to join their organisation. They explore topics such as Votes at 16, Mental Health and others.

The Youth Vote UK – It’s a non-profit organisation that encourages young voters to vote in general elections due to the aftermath of 2019 general election. The reason this organisation exists is because the turnout of young voters is still low as before despite Jeremy Corbyn’s support for young voters. It talks about controversial and complicated issues that affected young people and Britain as a whole. It talks about the dangers of low voter turnout and the organisation is politically neutral.

These are the only two that are relevant to my campaign, these organisations help and encourage the younger generation to vote in general elections no matter what political spectrum they stand in. These organisations don’t lean to any party which is good because it benefits young people who lean to different ideologies which encourages to participate in political conversations. Both organisations acknowledge the low youth voter turnout which can cause political strife and deadlocks after elections which can cause parties not having majorities. Their main of spreading awareness is by creating events around the UK not only in London, they create not only posters but also handing out leaflets and creating speaker spaces to create conversations.

I was tasked to create a questionnaire where I have to ask general political questions to my target audience (Age range 18-24) so I can understand their opinions and understand the popular opinions in the current political climate. There are a total of 11 questions and they mostly neutral, and don’t lean to any political think tank.

I decided to choose Low Voting Turnout among 18-24 because I have a passion for politics, I am interested in how to solve complicated issues that can have positive and negative effects. The message to encourage young people is difficult given the current political climate and apathy affecting the younger generation. My campaign will achieve a long-term goal because I don’t want to make my campaign forced on my target audience that would alienate them. A short-term goal may achieve my goals in the next general election, but it may result problems again in the future elections.

So, the idea is to encourage the younger generation who are in the age range of 18-24 to vote for alternative parties if they disdain mainstream parties. This would allow them to have more voting options than being stuck with mainstream parties that they don’t believe in or not being supported by those parties. In theory this will increase the voting turnout but in practice is yet to be seen.

I was tasked to create a video for my campaign, and I will keep it 30 seconds long max, I will make a poster campaign that can be converted to billboard campaign and leaflets too. In economic sense this would be cost effective and prevent lots of campaign variants as well. I will create other variants to try out different concepts of what my final product will be.
