Research

I was tasked to create an essay based on what type of genre of film I wanted to do which is 3D Animation in particular, I was also tasked to do ‘Harvard Referencing’ if I used any forms of information I took or inspired by on the websites I visited. I need to write the persons name and their title of their work, then the place of the publication their work. I did 3 references because I used two websites to avoid biases.

The first website I have researched is Odessa Animation Studio which is an animation studio based in Ukraine. Their webpage on the history of animation is pretty good because it covers the early history to modern history of animation such as equipment and films. They provide video examples and they explain each section of the timeline, however onwards they wrote a minimal paragraph but they compensate it with images. Some of the video examples are no longer available and it seems that this page hasn’t updated for a long time. I already know this stuff because I love history and it’s a good website for beginners.

This is the second website I have researched is Wikipedia’s history of animation, it is similar with the first reference I did but it goes more into detail with specific technology of animation. The Wiki page shows every animation technology every decade and explains their purpose and how they look like. It also highlights famous animations like Mickey Mouse from its early evolution of animation to today. I think this Wiki page is good for people who want to know specifics of animation but the layout and the way it’s written can be off putting.

The third website that I researched is Webflow’s history of animation, the website is professional with nice visuals and good website design. The timeline is pretty straightforward and it does explain some things in terms of technological advances but it doesn’t go into much detail but at the same time it does give straightforward information if you aren’t looking for specific details. The website provides good layers of images showcasing how they were made and their early stage of development.
